So......has anyone here ridden their bike with a full subframe tank yet? Mine should be here late next week and I'm just wondering how they make the bike feel.

I'll let you know, mine is fully fueled and ready to ride right now, but, I don't know if I'm gonna make it out this weekend or not. It's Africa hot out in the desert, so I don't have a lot of desire to go out and cook my brains. I was thinking of hitting Glen Helen on Tuesday to try it out.
FYI
So now the pipe line is full so to speak, meaning that production is moving along, and shipping the tanks to John is also moving along. The factory is producing about 10 tanks a day, and shipping the same, so John is really busy right now boxing things up and shipping them off to all of you guys.

I got my subframe fuel tank installed today. The install took about an hour/2 beers. The fit is great. It's obvious all the hard work and thought that has gone into this tank. The only hitch I had was I had to go out and buy a couple extra M5 bolts to attach my taillight assembly. With the exception of the fuel fill plug, it looks just like the stock subframe. The fill plug can't be opened by hand. You need to use a wrench or maybe a coin in the slotted head/cap. Since it slowly gravity fills from the stock tank I don't ever see myself opening it anyway. When filling from the stock tank I had to wait a minute or two for the fuel to make its way over to the subframe and then top up again. All in all a great effort from the guys at 70 Degree Racing! I will be riding with the tank tomorrow. I'll post again tomorrow night to let everyone know how it goes.

J[/quote] Take some spray silicon ... spray it on a paper towel ... and then wipe it on the gas cap and tank threads. It makes a *huge* difference for most caps.
Looking forward to your report! E-Ticket

Nope, not yet. That's just standard love-n-care for sticky or hard to turn KTM gas caps. - ET

That was something I found interesting, you can tighten the side fill cap by hand, but, it is difficult to loosen by hand.
I have found that if you tighten the side fill cap as tight as you can by hand, it is extremely difficult to remove by hand, and you may need a coin or screw driver to open it. Just so you guys know, the cap was added to facilitate a faster way to fill the the sub frame tank should one require it, but, most of the time most will not need it as you will have time to let it gravity fill.
However, I would like to point out that should you choose to use the side fill cap to do a quicker fill, you must fill the sub frame tank first and re install the cap before filling the main tank as the fuel level in the sub frame tank is higher than the fill cap once the main tank is full.

Hi J, I'm glad that you had an easy time installing your tank and thank you for the accolades on our product. It was A LOT of work to get the fit and finish the way we wanted it, but, your, and future customers satisfaction will make all that work worth while. Concerning the two M5 bolts for your tail light assembly, specifically which two did you have to go and get? The only two threaded bolts for the tail light assembly that I know of are 6X1.00, and are the ones at the bottom of the rear horizontal truss sub frame bolts. Did you already have a tail light assembly or did you just install one. I am very curious, and want to make sure that we include all necessary fasteners in our kit. Looking forward to your ride report! Dale

There are 4 bolts needed to mount my Tail light assembly; two self-tapping screws at the rear tips of the subframe and the two M5s that go in the threaded fittings on the underside.
Your install kit provided the self tapping screws needed but it only included enough bolts for the battery box(5) and the numberplate/fender mounts (2) on each side. The extra bolts for my tail light assembly also needed to be a little longer - I ended up buying two M5 x 16mm. It's strange that you say the fittings are M6, maybe I miscounted on the beers but I have a bolt kit left over from my KTM 450 - none of the M6 bolts would thread into the fittings.
I had a chance two ride the bike with the sub frame tank yesterday. I was out for about 7 hours running mostly single track and dual track trails in our local forest. Once the bike was moving I couldn't notice any difference in handling. It takes a little longer at the pump to fill up. I had to fill the stock tank to the top, wait for the gas to make its way into the subframe, top it up again and repeat once more before both tanks were full. It might have taken an extra two minutes at the pump. All in all I am very happy with this set up.
