RACE REPORT
Round 5, Alberta Endurance Ice – Feb 22, 2009
Corner Grass Racing Team (CGRT) wins Round 5 of Alberta Endurance Ice Series.
ROUND 5 – Sandy Beach Feb 22/09
The racers at Sandy Beach were greeted by a relatively balmy -10*C. The low overcast cloud conditions brought poor visibility, making navigation tougher than usual. At 11 km; the course was the longest 6 hour course used in AEIRA history. The layout eliminated the typical 6th gear tapped straight sections and instead utilized a mixture of tight corners and long sweepers resulting in 9 minute lap times.
Nick Riewe started the day for CGRT and pulled another patented Holeshot…now 5 for 5. Unfortunately, in the second turn Team Shrinkage overtook 1st place, but could not fend off the hard charging Riewe who regained the lead at the end of lap number one and then disappeared from the competition!
Jay McGregor took over the reigns at the 2 hour mark - throwing the spurs into the
Husaberg 650 and immediately proceeded to set the fastest lap time of the day! CGRT
continued to hammer out fast laps during the 6 hour duration and managed to extend the margin of victory to over 10 minutes!

Corner Grass Racing Team (CGRT) finishes 5th in Round 2 of Alberta Endurance Ice
Series – Chip Lake
Emotional highs and lows were the order of the day for CGRT at Chip Lake this past
Sunday. The team’s 2008 Husaberg FE 650 was pulling strong and the ice conditions
were near perfect. Nick Riewe pulled a monster holeshot and promptly disappeared
from the Pro Open class. The number 53 pitted at the 1 hour 30 minute after lapping up to 5th place. Jay McGregor was up next for the 2nd session; he put in equally fast times despite the rapidly deteriorating track.
Unfortunately everything went south at about the four hour mark when the engine lost power and quit running. The crew quickly had their back-up bike running and ready to go. Jay headed out for his second and final moto…unfortunately the half hour penalty awarded for subbing in another bike didn’t help their standings. CGRT managed to finish the day 5th in Pro Open and 16th overall; now second in the points behind the strong running Ice Pirates Team.

The AMA announced today that it has written to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative opposing a plan that could double the cost of some European motorcycles imported into the United States.
The plan being considered by U.S. trade officials would impose a 100 percent import duty on more than 100 European goods -- including two engine displacement categories of motorcycles, 51cc to 250cc, and 251cc to 500cc.

Their 570 demo has arrived and Bike Barn will be holding a demo ride in Medford, OR to let you try it. They will have a 2009 FE450 and 2009 FE570 available for riding.
Other bikes available to ride: 2008 FE450e, 2005 FE650e, Aprilia RXV5.5, Husky TXC250, Husky TE610.
